Brown Brother

BROWN BROTHER.....

Joshua Iosefo is a Mt Roskill prefect who was asked to do a speech about his life for polynesians. In his poem he has stated that anyone with faith can graduate and go on with their dream. Dedication, Desire and Determination. These are the three things that polynesians and Maori need, to strive to succeed and to believe.

We are strong people with a lot of pride in our culture and we are not people who think that we are at the bottom of the food chain. That we can graduate and that we are very intelligent beings and that just because we are low academics it still means we can learn more and still graduate. Also it means that we are not people who don't have jobs but if we did we were rubbish truck drivers we are more to than the eye can see more than just a victim of teen pregnancy we are brown people with pride deep inside

The message to me was to not limit yourself and to reach for the stars and that you can achieve more than you think you can and that limiting yourself will only make you achieve lower. Then you won’t be able to reach your full potential. Also that it will make people think more and more that us brown people will not go far in life that we'll drop out of school and become people who live off the pension and do nothing but sit around all day waiting for a job to come to us.

Precious McKenzie - Weight Lifter

The weightlifters face, hard like a stone looked as if he was about to punch anyone that came in his way, bar to his chest and about to do the final lift. The crowd had gone wild as soon as the weightlifter, Precious McKenzie gripped the bar and with a grunt he pushed all his weight into the air. Now that was success!
